I’m done with fine. So I launched a new site
One of the Urban Dictionary’s definitions of “fine” is: “Freaked out, insecure, neurotic, and emotional.” Sounds about right. For about 30 years, there could have also been a picture of me beside that definition. I operated on “fine” for a very very long time. Then I literally lost it: “I can’t do this shit anymore!” I literally could not continue on in my life for one more minute as “fine.” I had to make changes. I’m talking HUGE changes across all parts of my life. It was really scary.
I hate the word fine.
When someone asked me how I was, my answer was “I’m fine.” Every time. In hindsight, that was my answer because I was everything BUT fine. And I didn’t want anyone to ask questions. “Fine” kept them out of my business and away from me. So I worked really hard to break up with “fine”. I moved on. I kicked it out the door. I banned it from my life. I am not going to be just fine anymore, I proclaimed!!
And then, just when I was en route to “Fabulous” that damn word made a reappearance. It’d stalled. I was “fine” again. This time, it looked like mediocrity. I was just doing what needed to be done—never more; never less. I was walking down the middle of the road. It was not okay. At all.
Life is far too short to be fine.
We don’t know if we will be here tomorrow, next month, next year so why in the world would you or I or anyone else settle for just being fine?! It’s madness and yet we’re all doing it all the time. You can be fine when your dead.
Life is for living, so FUCK FINE!
Last year I dealt with breast cancer and 4 surgeries. That’s a lot. It impacted every aspect of my life and business. And it gave me plenty to think about. It became really clear that never again was I going to be okay with being “fine”. My first step to telling Fine to fuck right off is launching this website. It’s a labour of love. It’s my heart. It’s my business. It’s me. And I intend to use it as a platform to share with others—through blogs, posts, workshops, and other opportunities how to give fine the ol’ heave ho.
I wanna see a lot less FINE in the world and a whole lot more FUCK FINE!.
This website is my own middle finger to monotony. It pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone and take the leap of faith, to put my heart and soul out there, it is me stepping into the unknown and leaving fine far behind. It’s not easy. But, oh boy, does it feel good!
