OMG, how did that happen? Where did the time go? Are you planning for 2019? It is just over two weeks till January 1, and I am thinking – am I ready? Have I done what I needed to do? The answer right this moment the answer is no.
Will I be ready? You bet! I am the type of person who needs to have a direction to work towards. I know from years past that I have to know where I am going, I have to have a plan.
Structure sets me free
When I know the framework, I get a lot of comfort, and I know what I need to do. Last two years I didn’t really have the structure. I did do the goals, half-assed, I wrote something down because I needed to have something down. I would look at it yet with all the surgeries I didn’t do anything with it. Last year I did my Best Year booklet. I spent a lot of time filling it out and breaking down all the steps; I looked at it every month and, honestly, I didn’t do anything in the book. I didn’t have the bandwidth to get excited about what I wanted to do; I didn’t know what I wanted, I couldn’t see into the future at all.
2019 is another ballgame
This year is so different! I am so excited to do my planning. I started last week with the first Best Year workshop and then worked on it with my Best Year mastermind groups. As I type this, I feel the excitement building, and that brings tears to my eyes. It’s been a while since I was so excited about what is to come, about what I want, and what I will do in 2019. It is my year – Look out here I come!
Where are you?
So are you excited? Are you planning? If the answer to either of these questions is no, it is time to stop and look at what is going on. If you are dealing with something like I was and you don’t feel up to it, pick something to look forward: a week out, a month out. That helped me keep putting one foot in front of the other. If this resonates with you, please reach out to me, and I will share some of the things that got me through the tough times.
If you are thinking you are just going to wing it, good luck to you. I really hope it happens for you and you have a great year.
My question to you is how are you going to know if you have a great year if you don’t set out some kind of measurement for yourself. The second question is, are you avoiding it? If so, why? This is the first thing I would suggest you look at.
Remember structure sets you free and taking stock of where you are and putting some thought into where you want to go is a great start.
Tips for Planning
- Day Dream – yes, I am serious. Allow yourself to dream. What do you want? Where do you want to travel? How much do you want to make? Who do you want to help? How much you want to work? How much time off you want to have? It is whatever YOU want – this is all about you.
- Set yourself up to be successful. I am all for BIG goals but break them down into bite-size chunks. It takes time and effort to make it happen so where do you focus your time?
And the last that applies to everything is: Have fun with it; this is your life.
If you would like to do my Best Year workshop or join my mastermind, I am offering it online and in person – it is a great way to have the Best Year ever.
