Yesterday, I attended TEDx Vancouver. I saw amazing speakers get up on stage and share their stories, their ideas, and some great information. I heard about urban farms and what they do for the workers and about the struggle of one woman to become a mom. The importance of vision, creativity, and so much more. And it got me thinking about the importance of sharing your message.
The thing is, this is what I do with clients in Ignite your Business . We spend time digging into your why – why do you do what you do – which is a huge part of everyone I saw yesterday. You may not have the opportunity to share on such a grand scale, but you have the opportunity to connect with others everyday.
Knowing your why makes this so much easier. When you are clear on who you are and why you are doing what you do, you either connect or you don’t.
It is that simple.
You are not for everyone (just like I am not for everyone) and if you don’t connect with someone that saves both of you time, energy, and effort.
Not long ago, I was speaking with a client who did the yearlong program with me. He told me once he got clear on his why, on his message, he no longer wasted time trying to be the guy for everyone. In other words: “Here I am and if you don’t get it we are not meant to work with each other.” In October, he got 16 referrals and his business has increase 250% year over year since 2015.
